LI Cares, Catholic Health Expand Food Initiative Efforts

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Catholic Health and Long Island Cares are coming together for charity.

They launched a food-insecure partnership to help families in the community.

It was started last summer as a pilot program and since then, 900 "bags-to-go" meals have been distributed at Mercy Hospital and the other five Catholic Health hospitals on Long Island.

Moving forward, the meals are being given out at Catholic Health ambulatory care, walk-in clinics, home-care operations and cancer institute locations.

Harris Beach law firm in Uniondale made a $5,000 donation that will pay for an additional 2,700 meals.
