ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The U.S. News & World Report released its Best Graduate Schools rankings this week, sorting schools by major and ranking graduate programs on criteria like per-credit cost, faculty-to-student ratio and more. For Rockville Centre’s Molloy University, the rankings offered a positive outcome: The Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing’s Master’s in Nursing program was ranked number 83 in the country.

The Hagan School of Nursing rose 18 spots in this year’s rankings, with school officials attributing the rise to a “commitment to academic excellence, clinical preparation and student success.”

“We are proud to see our graduate programs recognized on a national level,” University president James P. Lentini said. “These rankings reflect the dedication of our faculty and the determination of our students. At Molloy, we remain committed to preparing graduates to lead and serve while supporting their success.”

While Lentini highlighted a dedication in both faculty and students, provost and VP for Academic Affairs Michelle Piskulich said it was also an achievement made possible by the school’s programmatic offerings.

"We are proud of these USNWR rankings because they underscore the excellence of our graduate programs as well as the education and nursing faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping our students achieve their academic and professional goals,” Piskulich said. “All of Molloy’s education and nursing graduate programs respond to our mission to provide transformative education that prepares our students to be ethical leaders with the capacity to transform their organizations and communities."

The nursing program wasn’t alone on the list, either, as Molloy’s master’s in speech pathology program came in 244th nationally while the master’s in education program placed 202nd. The nursing program’s 83rd national ranking places it sixth among New York universities, trailing NYU (7th), University of Rochester (11th), Pace (36th), CUNY-Hunter (41st) and St. John Fisher (50th).
