Local Library Begins Contruction For Major Upgrades
The Oceanside Library is expanding the building and parking lot.

OCEANSIDE, NY — The Oceanside Library is in the process of a major renovation. Demolition of the adjacent properties was demolished.
"We are excited to see how large the new parking lot will be," the library said on its Facebook page.
The remodel removed the 1962 structure and a new three-story library will take its place. It will feature a lower level and two above-ground floors.

Additionally, construction is stripping away the newer, 1997 section as well.
"We found some rusted out beams from hidden water damage which will be replaced. We expect construction to start shortly," the Facebook post said.

The library board also thanked Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin and other town officials, for keeping the building permit fees, "which could have been in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, capped going forward at just $500."
The library's temporary space is at the Great Lincoln Shopping Center.
