Long Islanders Can Now Get Cash For Using Less Electricity
Climate tech startup Meltek is working with PSEG Long Island for customers to earn money for cutting the power during high-demand times.

LONG ISLAND, NY — PSEG Long Island is always encouraging customers to conserve electricity as a way to cut costs on the monthly bill.
There is now a way to take that a step further.
Residential and small business customers will be able to get paid for reducing electricity usage at peak demand times.

Climate tech startup Meltek has expanded its free money-saving and pollution-reducing service to Long Island.
Customers can download Meltek's iPhone/Android app or go to their website.

Once signed up with Meltek using the PSEG Long Island account number, Meltek sends text or email alerts. Meltek lets customers know when they can earn money by postponing large appliance usage, such as washing machines and dishwashers.
The exact ways of saving electricity are up to customers, but PSEG LI and Meltek say the plan is structured so that no one loses money by signing up (for free) with Meltek.
Although users can sign up with Meltek any time of the year, PSEG Long Island customers who sign up by April 1 receive the highest incentive payments under the utility company’s demand response program.
