Man Assaults 3 Police Officers During Welfare Check: Detectives
Marcellus Morris, who faces charges for the altercation, was taken to an area hospital, police say.

BALDWIN, NY — A Rockville Centre man was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon for an assault on police officers.
Officers responded to a father's welfare check in Baldwin.
Marcellus Morris, 20, failed to show for a court appearance earlier in the day, his father told police.

As police used tools to open the door the younger Morris began attacking officers, detectives said.
Three officers were hurt in the melee. Morris was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. He faces charges that include three counts of second-degree assault. Morris will be arraigned when it's medical practical, according to police.
