Man Hit And Killed By Train At Rockville Centre

Trains were diverted around the station for more than an hour while police investigated. It's unclear how the man got onto the tracks.

An unidentified man was hit by a train and killed in Rockville Centre Friday afternoon. The incident cause delays in the schedule as trains had to divert around the station.

According to the MTA, the man was hit around 2 p.m. It caused the station to be temporarily closed as trains had to bypass it.

As of 3:30 p.m., the MTA reopened the Rockville Centre station, and the MTA police finished their investigation around 4 p.m.

There is no word yet on who the man was or what he was doing on the tracks. It's unclear if he was hit accidentally, or if he was trying to be hit.
