Man Injured Nassau Officer During Arrest In Lakeview: Police

The man was "violent and combative while resisting arrest" after he was walking in the street while drinking alcohol, police say.

LAKEVIEW, NY — A West Hempstead man was accused of assaulting a Nassau police officer while he was being arrested in Lakeview on Sunday, police said.

Officers were patrolling Woodfield Road near Lakeview and West Hempstead when they found two men walking in the street while drinking alcohol around 10 p.m., detectives said.

Aaron F. Martin, 43, was arrested after an investigation, police said. An officer was injured during the arrest, as Martin was "violent and combative while resisting arrest," police said. The officer was brought to a nearby hospital for his injuries, police said.

Martin was charged with violations of public places, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and second-degree assault. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday at First District Court, 99 Main St., Hempstead.
