Man Robs Nassau Station; Claims To Have Gun: Police

OCEANSIDE, NY — A man was arrested for robbing an Oceanside gas station on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Edward Miles, 55, of Oceanside, entered the Speedway Gas Station on Long Beach Road and removed beer from the refrigerators. Miles approached a male employee behind the register.

He selected two packs of cigarettes from behind the counter and placed his hand in his sweatshirt. Miles told the clerk he had a gun, police said

He fled the scene with beer and cigarettes. A short time later, Miles was located at his residence where he was placed under arrest without incident, police said.

Miles is charged with first-degree robbery and was due to be arraigned on Friday, police said.
