ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The man behind Maple Lanes RVC has been honored with a lifetime achievement award.

John LaSpina, president of Maple Family Centers, was named by the National Association of State Veterans Homes.

LaSpina, 75, had chaired the Board of Bowlers to Veterans Link for the past decade. During that time, LaSpina helped BVL raise at least $600,000 per year for organizations supporting veterans.

"My contributions to BVL have included finding new paths to raise money. We incorporated a point-of-sale system for bowling centers, where customers can round up to the nearest dollar to support BVL, similar to supermarket charity fundraising programs," LaSpina said.

The award will be presented during the association’s Winter Conference in Arlington, VA on February 6.
