Merrick Gas Station Robbed at Gunpoint

Robbery occurred Monday morning. Police release surveillance photos of robber.

A man armed with a gun robbed a Merrick gas station Monday morning, police said.

According to police, the man pictured in the surveillance photos above entered the Mobil gas station located at 1589 Merrick Road at about 6:30 a.m. and displayed a black handgun. He demanded money from an employee, who complied.

The robber fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash in a maroon colored Nissan Rogue northbound onto the Meadowbrook State Parkway, police said.

No injuries were reported. The robber is described as Hispanic and in his early 20s. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

The robbery is not believed to be connected to a string of 14 gas station robberies across Long Island over the past month.
