Molloy University Appoints New Dean After Nationwide Search
Dr. Gina Florio started this month as Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Molloy University has named Gina Florio, Ph.D. as Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences.
The Rockville Centre school conducted a national search before finding Florio.
Her tenure started on Aug. 1.

She served as interim dean of St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John's Univerity for the past two years.
"Dr. Florio has a deep understanding of, and commitment to, the centrality of the liberal arts in Catholic higher education," said C. Michelle Piskulich, Ph.D., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Florio received her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Purdue University, and an A.B. cum laude in Chemistry from Vassar College.
She is a strong advocate for faculty and while the dean, she helped identify resources both internal and external in support of faculty work.
Florio has 24 peer-reviewed publications, numerous invited seminars, conferences and poster presentations.
