Among the key initiatives listed that helped the hospital reach that goal were Mt. Sinaiโs labor-support education and birth training, including the utilization of โpeanut ballโ positioning to encourage labor progress. Also listed among those initiatives was targeted physician education, which hospital officials said helped reduce unnecessary C-sections. That education campaign included individualized reviews of C-section rates for first-time and low-risk patients and a systemwide course on diagnosing labor progress and decision-making to give patients the ability to deliver without surgery.
โWe are proud to earn the U.S. News โHigh Performingโ rating for the fourth consecutive year, but what drives us is the confidence and trust that mothers and their families place in us day in and day out,โ Mt. Sinai South Nassauโs President, Adhi Sharma said. โWe are the go-to hospital for maternity care on the South Shore of Nassau County, and thatโs a credit to our exceptional staff.โ
