Nassau Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit By Truck

A Rockville Centre woman died on Saturday after she fell off her bicycle and was hit by a truck.

According to police, the cyclist, identified as Ellen Stegman, 67, was riding her bicycle north on South Park Avenue in Rockville Centre at 2:40 p.m. when she fell off, and was then struck by a 2003 Ford box truck. The driver of the truck stopped and called 911.

An ambulance arrived at the scene, and an EMT pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
