Nassau Man Charged With Shooting In Road Rage Incident: Police

BREAKING: The fight ended with one man getting shot in the buttock, police say.

A Freeport man was arrested Friday afternoon in Rockville Centre after police say an investigation showed he was involved in a shooting as part of a road rage incident earlier in the week.

According to police, on Wednesday, July 19 at 5 p.m. a 36-year-old man was seated in the passenger seat of a Chrysler sedan parked on Van Buren Street in Baldwin, talking with the female driver. Police say that Malik G. Burton, 25, of Casino Street, Freeport, stopped next to them in a BMW and started an argument with the man. Police say Burton parked across the street from the Chrysler as the argument escalated.

Police say that the man got out of his car and took a baseball bat from the trunk, while Burton got out of his car with a handgun. The man tried to run back to his car and Burton fired one shot, striking the man in the buttock. Burton fled and the man was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
