Nassau Man Had Fake Guns and $100k In Counterfeit Cash: Police

Police say he was shooting a gun in his yard that was designed to fire blanks, which is how they found him.

Nassau police arrested a Baldwin man Sunday night and charged him with counterfeiting after they found him in possession of $100,000 in counterfeit bills and fake guns.

According to police, officers responded to a home on Everett Court in Baldwin at 7:20 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of shots being fired. Officers found Dwayne C. White, 37, firing a gun that was designed to fire blanks. Police say he was in possession of a large amount of counterfeit cash.

Police arrested White at the scene. They say they also recovered more than $100,000 in counterfeit cash from inside the house, as well as more guns that were designed to fire blanks.

White is charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Cout in Hempstead on Monday.
