Nassau Man Pleads Guilty To Beating Woman To Death With A Hammer

He dumped her body in the parking lot behind his apartment, but police quickly connected him to the grisly murder.

A Bladwin man pleaded guilty on Thursday to beating a woman to death with a hammer in 2016.

Raphael Oyague, 37, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the November 2016 bludgeoning death of the woman.

“A young woman’s life was tragically brought to an end when this defendant savagely attacked her with a hammer, striking her all over her body,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “I thank our prosecutors and our partners in the police department for bringing this violent defendant to justice.”

On Nov. 23, 2016, around 12:40 p.m, a woman's body was found by two delivery workers in the parking lot of 2417 Grand Ave. in Baldwin. Investigators tracked a trail of blood from the body to the back door of Oyague's apartment, which was above the store. Oyague was found in his apartment covered in blood.

Police determined that Oyague killed the woman around 10 p.m. the night before by beating her in the head and torso with a hammer.
