Nassau Police Foil Attempted Bank Robbery

Police say the two men were trying to break into an ATM, but ran when officers showed up.

Nassau County police foiled an early morning bank robbery in Baldwin on Monday, but the robbers managed to get away.

According to police, officers responded to a call for a larceny in progress at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union at 1800 Grand Ave. Two men were trying to pry open the drive-up ATM in the rear parking lot.

When the police arrived, the two men ran through the neighboring Brookside Garden Apartments parking lot in an unknown direction.

The men are only described as wearing dark colored sweatshirts and jeans.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
