Nassau Police Save Suicidal Man

The man was threatening to shoot himself, but officers managed to convince him to drop his gun.

On Saturday morning, Nassau County police officer saved a man in Baldwin who was threatening to kill himself.

According to police, a call came in Sunday morning for a man on the Milburn Boat Ramp on Atlantic Avenue, who was threatening to kill himself with a rifle. When police arrived, they found a 46-year-old man with an AR-type rifle on the boat ramp.

With the help of the Bureau of Special Operations, the Marine Bureau, Emergency Services and the Hostage Negotiation Team, police managed to talk the man down. He eventually listened to the officers and put down his gun.

The man was taken into custody and taken to a hospital for evaluation. No one was injured.
