Nassau Teen Tried To Rob Man At Knifepoint: Police

Police say the teen was armed, bu instead of giving him money, the man called the cops.

BALDWIN, NY — A Freeport teen was arrested Monday night after he tried to rob someone at knifepoint in Baldwin.

According to police, a 43-year-old man was walking on Merrick Road near Milburn Avenue at 10 p.m. Monday when he was approached by a 15-year-old boy. The teen pulled out a knife and demanded money from the man. The man refused and called police.

Officers responded and found the teen, who was still at the scene, and placed him under arrest without incident.

The teen, who police did not identify, was charged with first-degree attempted robbery and second-degree menacing. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hemsptead on July 2.
