A spokesperson for the congressman, however, says 'this misleading, ad campaign by Empire State Voices [is] particularly condemnable."

ISLAND PARK, NY — A political advocacy group is attacking Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (R-Island Park) for standing in opposition to lowering prices for insulin.

Empire State Voices launched a seven-figure media effort to "educate constituents in the 4th Congressional District" about D'Esposito's record.

The ad called "My Oldest," features Olivia and her oldest daughter, Alexis, who live in Uniondale.

Alexis has type 1 diabetes, and even with health insurance, they struggle to afford the cost of her insulin.

"Congressman D’Esposito is supposed to be fighting on behalf of the people who live in his district, people like my daughter and I," Olivia said. "Instead, he’s turned his back on us and opposed legislation that would materially improve our lives. We’re struggling with high costs here on Long Island, and he doesn’t seem to care."

D'Esposito's office was contacted about the claim.

"Congressman D’Esposito has never voted in favor of legislation that would raise insulin prices and remains committed to working in a bipartisan fashion to reduce healthcare costs for Americans, which makes this misleading, partisan ad campaign by Empire State Voices particularly condemnable," Spokesperson Matthew Capp told Patch.

Empire State Voices is a campaign dedicated to "amplifying the voices of everyday working New Yorkers, while "fighting for economic policies that make life more affordable for constituents and holding members of Congress across the state accountable when they fail to do the same."
