New Bishop Installed in Diocese of Rockville Centre
Bishop John Barres has officially replaced Bishop William Murphy as the Catholic leader on Long Island. See pictures and videos here.

Bishop John Barres has officially succeeded William Murphy to become the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre was packed Tuesday afternoon as Barres was installed by Archbishop Timothy Dolan. Barres, 56, has served as the bishop of the Diocese of Allentown in Pennsylvania since 2009. He was appointed the new bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre by Pope Francis earlier this year.
Last year, Murphy turned 75, which is the required retirement age for bishops. But the Pope waited until this year to replace him.

Impressive procession. 62 bishops, 3 cardinals at St. Agnes Cathedral. Too many priests to count.
