Officer Hurt During Car Chase, Arrest Of Woman In Nassau: Police
Najah M. Bailey was taken into custody after fleeing Bed, Bath and Beyond with stolen merchandise, police say.

OCEANSIDE, NY — A woman was picked up by police after a string on larcenies on Wednesday in Oceanside, police said.
A vehicle matching the description fled Bed, Bath and Beyond on Long Beach Road.
Officers stopped the woman on Fifth Street near Mott Street. While they attempted to investigate, the woman placed the vehicle in reverse and struck an officer with the car's mirror, causing minor pain, police said.

The woman refused to comply and sped up, forcing the officer to jump out of the way, police said. She sped off and drove through several red lights, police said.
The woman then struck a vehicle on Fairview Avenue at Long Beach Road and continued until crashing into a pole a few blocks ahead. She exited the vehicle and police began a brief foot pursuit, detectives said.

Najah Bailey, 29, of Queens, was placed into custody without any further injuries.
Bailey faces multiple charges, including second-degree attempted assault, three counts of criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle.
She is expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
