BALDWIN, NY — A woman, who grew up in Baldwin hoping to become an astronaut, has taken the next step toward realizing her childhood dream.

Jasmin Moghbeli will serve as spacecraft commander on a flight to the International Space Station, Newsday reported.

The SpaceX Crew-7 is expected to launch no earlier than 2023.

Moghbeli, 38, went to Lenox Elementary School in Baldwin and graduated from NASA astronaut school in 2020, Newsday wrote.
