Parked Police Vehicles Badly Damaged In Drunken Driving Crash: Police

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Valley Stream after hitting parked police cars on Monday night.

Richard Welch, 59, who lives just south of Albany, was driving a black pick-up truck on South Central Ave when he struck two unoccupied Nassau County police vehicles, authorities said.

Welch was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The police vehicles were badly damaged and taken out of service for repairs. No officers were injured.

Welch is charged with DWI and will be arraigned when medically practical.
