Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car In Nassau

A woman died after she was hit by a car while trying to cross a road in Oceanside on Friday night.

According to police, the 67-year-old woman was crossing the westbound lanes of Atlantic Avenue, near Terrell Avenue, at 7:53 p.m. when she was hit by a 2013 Chevry Cruze. She suffered multiple injuries from the collision and was taken to a nearby hospital. She eventually died from her injuries.

Police say the driver remained on the scene, and that the investigation is ongoing. The woman's name is being withheld pending family notification.
