Performance-Based Music School Rocks its Way into Rockville Centre
School of Rock Franchise Proves Rock and Roll is Here to Stay with New Location

Rockville Centre, NY – School of Rock, the leader in performance-based music education, is celebrating the grand opening of its newest location with a special VIP event on Friday, September 5, 2014 and an open house on September 6, 2014 at 197 N. Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre, NY.
School of Rock is an ingenious concept that gets kids and adults rocking out to the classics and on stage performing with their peers. The performance-based approach to music education brings out the confidence in the kids to rock on stage and in life. Music programs are designed to create a supportive environment where music students of all skill levels are comfortable yet challenged at every turn. In addition to individual private music instruction on guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and/or drums, students also learn how to jam with their peers in a weekly practice session. The team dynamic creates a supportive and motivating environment where kids feel inspired to excel.
With their son Michael, a School of Rock student, new franchise owners Monica and Gene Rubin have been fans of School of Rock since he started taking lessons in 2009. After they witnessed how much their son grew through the program – both musically and professionally – Monica and Gene were inspired to bring School of Rock to the Rockville Centre community. Growing up listening to rock music, the Rubin’s passion is reignited every time Michael and his friends play the music they grew up with.

“Seeing our son come out of his shell and really thrive at School of Rock has been such an inspiring, heartwarming experience and has opened our eyes to the authentic power School of Rock’s performance-based concept can have,” said Monica. “There aren’t very many programs that provide the opportunity for music lovers and aspiring musicians to simultaneously enhance their skills, collaborate and perform, and the confidence it builds in students is unparalleled by anything I’ve ever seen. We’re thrilled to be taking our involvement with School of Rock to the next level and have the chance to impact people’s lives and personal growth in Rockville Centre.”
School of Rock programs are performance-based and emphasize the message that music is not just about playing an instrument; it’s about teamwork, building confidence, and creating leaders. The unique programs include “Rock 101”, which teaches basic skills to beginners, the “Performance Program,” the second stage and heart and soul of School of Rock, and an “Adult Program.” The school also offers an enriching program designed for first and second grade rockers called the “Rookies” program, and a pre-school program called “Little Wing,” designed to introduce toddlers to the joy of music. After about sixteen to eighteen weeks of one-on-one lessons and structured group rehearsals, the students of “Performance Program” transform into rock stars in a blowout concert in front of a real live audience.

“It’s truly remarkable to see how music touches the lives of all generations, and through this exciting new venture, we’ll be able to engage young people and inspire them to share their passion and talent with the world,” added Gene.
Through School of Rock’s “Guest Performer Series,” students have the opportunity to learn from and jam with some of music’s most iconic names, including Jon Anderson, lead vocalist from the legendary rock band Yes, Earl Slick, David Bowie’s guitarist, seminal post-punk bass player, Mike Watt, and collaborator of the groundbreaking, pop-rock duo The Eurythmics, Dave Stewart.
School of Rock Rockville Centre will be open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm (hours may vary). For more information on the school, visit http://rockvillecentre.schoolofrock.com/ or call 516-599-5909.
