South Side tests its skill against Colorado state champion.
The South Side boy’s lacrosse team found itself within striking distance of its first victory of the season on March 29, but a poor second half against defending Colorado state champion Cherry Creek spoiled that chance.
The Cyclones only trailed 4-3 at half, but gave up eight goals in the second stanza to lose 12-6.
Head coach Steve DiPietro said his young team has the talent and potential, but needs time for all the pieces to jell.

“The talent is there, you can see it," he said. "I think our communication hurt us a little bit on this one. We hurt ourselves more than the other team does. It’s just another example of our inexperience. We have to stay the course and stay positive.”
Team leader Bryan Gerrato had three goals for the Cyclones and Peter Clark, Stephen Tita and Patrick Finnerty each added one of their own.
