Police: Detergent Thief, DWI Charges in Rockville Centre

Rockville Centre Police Department reports on crimes last week.

Rockville Centre Police reported the following information. Charges are merely accusations and do not imply guilt.

Larceny

Oct. 3 at 1:14 a.m., an employee from CVS, 155 Sunrise Highway, reported that an unknown male stole five Tide detergents and damaged the door to the store while fleeing toward a burgundy Nissan motor vehicle.

Oct. 2 at 3:15 p.m., a Merrick Road resident reported that sometime since Oct. 1 at approximately 10 p.m., unknown person(s) stole an unsecured bicycle valued at $200.00 from in front of the residence.

Sept. 29: at 2:20 p.m., a DeMott Avenue resident reported finding unauthorized withdrawals from her checking account.

Property Damage

Oct. 4 at 12:34 p.m., a North Village Avenue resident reported that her motor vehicle was damaged by scaffolding that fell to the ground in the vicinity of 100 N. Centre Avenue, Rockville Centre.

Arrests

Sept. 30 at 3:56 a.m., Otis Key, age 31, of Terrace Avenue, Hempstead, was arrested and charged with False Personation and an active bench warrant for his arrest during an investigation on N. Village Avenue, Rockville Centre.

Oct. 1 at 12:31 a.m., James A. Whittaker, age 45, of Washington Street, Hempstead was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and traffic infractions following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Merrick Road, Rockville Centre.
