Queens Man Arrested After Attempted Scam On Woman’s Apple Account: Police

The man told the woman that she would need to withdraw $22,500 cash to fix the account, police say.

OCEANSIDE, NY. — A 32-year-old man is in police custody Thursday morning after he tried to con a 66-year-old woman out of $22,500 by claiming her Apple account had been compromised Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Nassau County police said 32-year-old Changxuan Liu reached out to the woman Wednesday when she was trying to get her Apple device serviced and told her that her account had been compromised. Police said she was told that she would need to take out $22,500 cash to help fix the account.

Prior to withdrawing any money, however, police said the woman called them. On his way to pick up the cash, police said Liu was tracked down and tried to resist his arrest.
