Rent Board Approves Increases Countywide

The rent hike goes into effect on Oct. 1.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Renters are about to pay more.

The Nassau County Rent Guidelines Board voted Wednesday for rent increases of up to 2% in rent-regulated units across the county. The only exception was for residents in the Village of Hempstead, Newsday reported.

The Board approved up to a one-percent hike for one-year leases and up to two percent for two-year leases.

The increases begin on October 1.

The county had more than 6,000 occupied rent-regulated apartments last year, Newsday said.
