Arrests

On July 23 at 10:11 p.m., Taijuan W. Canada, 23, from Brooklyn, was arrested for vehicle and traffic law violations and an open New York City warrant for fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre.

On July 20 at 12:33 p.m., Edwin G. Cuffee, 75, of Vanburen Street, Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with second- and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and traffic infractions after he was observed operating a vehicle on Merrick Road.

On July 20 at 6:50 p.m., Curtis G. Abraham, 45, of 221st Street, Cambria Heights, was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and traffic infractions after he was observed operating a vehicle on Sunrise Hwy.

On July 19 at 2:05 p.m., a Meehan Lane resident reported an acquaintance pushed her to the ground, resulting in pain and bruising to her elbow, during a disturbance in front of her apartment.

Unusual Incidents

On July 17 at 8:27 p.m., a Powell Avenue resident reported someone opened a PayPal account in her name.

On July 19 at 10:05 a.m., a Wright Road resident reported seeing someone near her back door on her video surveillance system.

On July 20 at 10:12 a.m., an Island Park resident reported he was walking with his 6-year-old son on Sunrise Hwy when a motorist attempted to speak to the child.

On July 20 at 10:32 a.m., a Linhurst Place resident reported an ATM was used to withdraw money from his checking account in New Jersey.

On July 22 at 8:56 p.m., a complainant from Hampshire Road reported that her 17-year-old daughter was approached by an unknown man operating a car, causing alarm.

Harassment

On July 18 at 10:38 p.m., a DeMott Avenue resident reported receiving annoying/alarming calls and texts.

Larcenies

On July 17 at 7:10 p.m., a Jefferson Avenue resident reported the theft of two bicycles she locked together on Front Street.

On July 17 at 3:28 p.m., a manager reported the theft of energy-drink beverages from a pharmacy store on Merrick Road.

On July 18 at 9:07 a.m., an automotive repair shop owner on N. Centre Avenue reported the theft of a leaf blower.

On July 19 at 6:27 a.m., a manager at Lexus on Sunrise Hwy reported the theft of wheels from two new vehicles parked on the lot overnight.

Property Damage

On July 22 at 2:44 p.m., a complainant from Baldwin reported that a 2017 Jeep was damaged by unknown means while parked on N. Park Avenue.
