Larcenies

On July 17 at 7:44 a.m., a Hampshire Road resident reported his EZpass was stolen from his unlocked vehicle overnight.

On July 18 at 3:16 p.m., a customer at a store on Merrick Road reported his unlocked bicycle was stolen while he was inside shopping.

On July 18 at 4:59 p.m., two teenagers from Lynbrook were seen stealing two bicycles from a driveway on Demott Avenue. The teens were apprehended and the bicycles were returned to the owner, who refused to have the subjects arrested.

On July 19 at 6:13 a.m., a homeowner on Berkshire Road reported his 2017 Jeep motor vehicle was stolen from the driveway overnight.

On July 20 at 1:51 p.m., a landscaper reported his leaf blower was stolen while his truck was unattended.

On July 22 at 8:48 a.m., a homeowner on Hempstead Avenue reported his 2008 BMW and 2008 GMC motor vehicles were stolen from the driveway overnight.

Leaving the Scene

On July 16 at 10:15 a.m., a driver reported his car was sideswiped by a truck that left the scene while he was driving westbound on Sunrise Hwy.

On July 17 at 10:38 a.m., a driver reported her vehicle was struck by a car that left the scene while she was parked on Merrick Road.

On July 18 at 2:09 p.m., an employee at a pharmacy on Merrick Road reported his car was struck by a vehicle that left the scene while it was parked in the store lot.

On July 20 at 12:47 p.m., a driver reported her vehicle was struck by a car that left the scene while she was parked at Mercy Medical Center.

On July 20 at 8:43 p.m., a white van struck a utility pole on N. Centre Avenue and then left the scene.

Investigation

On July 16 at 1:49 p.m., the manager at Enterprise car rental on Sunrise Hwy reported they received a surplus vehicle from their LaGuardia airport location that had a bullet hole in the right front passenger door.

Menacing

On July 18 at 1:36 p.m., a driver reported he was at the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Greenway at about 11:25 a.m. when another vehicle passed a stop sign and nearly collided with his car. When he pulled up forward, the subject intentionally accelerated in attempt to strike his car, placing him in fear of physical injury. As the driver was calling 911, the subject threatened to injure him.

Arrests

On July 20 at 2:05 a.m., Howard Harris, 64, of West Hempstead, was arrested and charged with first- and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, DWI, and two traffic infractions after he was observed operating a vehicle on N. Village Avenue.

On July 22 at 2:36 a.m., Anais Lizarra, 29, of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired after she was involved in an auto accident on Lincoln Avenue.
