Rockville Centre To Flush Hydrants For Week
While the water may be rusty, it is safe for residents to drink
Rockville Centre, NY — It's a spring cleaning of sorts for the Village of Rockville Centre. Water mains are getting the annual flushing from Wednesday, April 28 to Tuesday, May 4.
What it means for residents and businesses:
People may notice some fluctuation of water pressure and/or discolored (rusty) water to flow from the pipes. Officials from the village say the water is safe to drink, but it could stain laundry.

They advise to hold off on any projects requiring clear water during the entire flushing period.
The water will be both chemically and bacteriologically safe to drink.

Breakdown of the flushings:
Wednesday, April 28th between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m
The area just north of DeMott Avenue.
Thursday, April 29th between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The area between Lakeview Avenue and DeMott Avenue, west of Long Beach Road
Friday, April 30th between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The area between Sunrise Highway and McDermott Road east of Long Beach Road
Monday, May 3rd between midnight and 8 a.m.
The entire area between Lakeview Avenue and Merrick Road.
Tuesday, May 4th between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The entire area south of Merrick Road.
