Rockville Centre Goes Green For St. Patrick's Parade
The Parade That Cares And Shares marched through the streets of the village this weekend, and even Mother Nature smiled down.
The streets ran green on Saturday as thousands of people came to Rockville Centre to watch the annual St. Patrick's Parade.
Maple Avenue was lined with cheering crowds from end to end as the dozens of groups marched down the parade route. They were led by grand marshal Patty McDonald, the mayor of Malverne.
Every year since it was started 21 years ago, the parade has also collected money to give to charity. Each year, the parade committee selects a local, a national and an Irish charity to donate to. This year's charities were The Backyard Players and Friends, Breathe Believe and Pieta House.
