Rockville Centre Man Caught Trying To Hide Handgun: police
Police say officers were investigating a different matter when they found the man and his weapon.
A Rockville Centre man was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he was caught with a handgun in Hempstead.
According to police, officers were investigating an unrelated incident at 1:40 a.m. in Hempstead when they saw a group of people standing behind a car on Stewart Avenue. As the offices approached, police say they saw Latrell Ofurhie, 19, of Cranbrook Street, Rockville Centre, trying to hid a black handgun. He was placed under arrest.
Ofurhie is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He was arraigned on July 21 at First District Court in Hempstead.
