Rockville Centre Schedules Special Election For June

Voters will decide on a candidate to fill a vacant Village Trustee seat for a year.

EDITOR'S NOTE: A previous version of this story was worded poorly. Kathleen Baxley is running for her own seat. The special election is to fill Nancy Howard's vacated seat. The story has been updated to reflect this.

The Village of Rockville Centre is holding a special election on June 19 to allow residents to fill a vacancy on the village's Board of Trustees.

Voters will be decide on who should fill Deputy Mayor Nancy Howard's seat. Howard, stepped down from the board.

The election will determine who will finish the remaining year of the term. That person would then be eligible to run again, if they chose.

Anyone who is interested in running for the seat can pick up a package from the Village Administrator's office on the first floor of Village Hall, located at 1 College Place, during normal operating hours. All signed petitions must be returned to Village Hall by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15.

Voting in the election will be held at the John A. Anderson Recreation Center, located at 111 North Oceanside Road, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 19. Anyone who wishes to cast a ballot must be registered to vote with the Nassau County Board of Elections no later than 10 days before the election.
