Rockville Centre Residents Pass Budget; Spaulding Out As Trustee
Rockville Centre residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

Voters in the Rockville Centre School District went to the polls Tuesday and approved the school budget.
The $112.7 million budget is a somewhat steep increase from the current budget, going up 2.92 percent from the current $109.5 million spending plan. Voters overwhelmingly approved the budget 2,235 to 771. Due to a large increase in state aid, the tax levy is increasing by a much smaller amount — from $91.815 million to $92.5 million.
Voters also cast their ballots for Board of Education Trustees. In a surprisingly busy year, there were five candidates running for two seats, including incumbent Gregg Spaulding. Trustee Mayda Kramer did not run for another term. Newcomers Susan McNulty and Tara Hackett handily won the two seats, earning 1,949 and 1,338 votes, respectively. Incumbent Gregg Spaulding earned 837 votes, and other challengers Wayne Fitzgerald and Liz Stack earned 787 and 481, respectively.
