Rockville Centre School Budget Vote, Trustee Election Tuesday

Here's what you need to know before heading to the polls.

Rockville Centre residents will head to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots for a proposed school budget and to elect school board trustees.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at South Side High School.

The Rockville Centre Board of Education is proposing a budget of $109,482,695 for 2016-17. That represents a 2.25 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 0.85 percent hike in the school tax levy.

Voters will also elect school board trustees on Tuesday.

Incumbent John O'Shea will be running unopposed for the open seat on the school board. The term is for three years.
