Rockville Centre School Superintendent Resigns 13 Months On Job

June Chang will remain in his role until May of next year.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The Rockville Centre school board accepted the resignation of Superintendent June Chang at its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday night.

Board of Education President John O'Shea made the announcement to open the meeting.

Chang will remain in his role until May 11, 2022. He was hired in July 2020.

"I look forward to helping out in a continued transition," Chang said.

Chang informed parents of his decision in a letter dated August 17 and posted to the district's website.

"We have overcome many obstacles together, during the most challenging of times, and I will
always be grateful for the opportunity to have served the RVC Schools community," Chang wrote. "However, after careful consideration with my family, I have decided to pursue other opportunities."

One of the most visible challenges came last month when the school board chose not to bring back the South Side High School girls' soccer coach and assistant coach. They led the squad to the Nassau County championship in April.

The board announced that they already started searching for the next superintendent.
