Rockville Centre Schools To Get $2.5 Million State Aid Increase
The money will help keep tax increases lower in the 2017-18 school year.

Under the recently passed New York budget, school districts across the state are going to be getting more aid. The Rockville Centre school district is no different, and will see an increase of just over $2.5 million from the state.
The more money that comes from the state and other revenue sources, the less school districts have to raise through taxes. Rockville Centre is going to see a total increase of $2,503,754 or 23.1 percent over its current funding.
"I am happy that this year’s final state budget includes $25.2 billion in total state education aid, which is a $995.4 million increase from last year," said Assemblyman Brian Curran. "But like previous years, Senator Kaminsky and myself had to fight to obtain additional funding for our schools in the 21st Assembly District because of an unfair educational funding formula that disproportionately affects Nassau County schools like. This budget again highlights the inequity in the distribution of the state educational aid to our Nassau County schools."

The increases bring Rockville Centre's total state aid to $13,340,544.
"Providing a high-quality education for our children is our top priority, and strengthening the school district is central to ensuring that Rockville Centre remain a wonderful place to live and raise a family,” said Senator Todd Kaminsky. “I am proud to have helped secure more funding for Rockville Centre schools so that our students can have the best learning opportunities available. Importantly, the more money we secure from Albany, the less Long Island taxpayers are called on to shoulder the financial burden.”
