Rockville Centre St. Patrick's Parade: What You Need to Know
The popular local event will kick off this weekend.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY - Rockville Centre's 20th annual St. Patrick's Parade will be kicking off this weekend.
If you're thinking of attending the highly anticipated event, here's what you need to know:
- Date/Time: Saturday, March 19 starting at 12 noon.
- Location: The parade will begin on the corner of Maple Street and N. Long Beach Road.
- Weather: The temperature throughout the day is going to range from 32 to 46 degrees and it will be partly cloudy.
- Train: If you are traveling to the parade by train via the LIRR, you can catch the 10:45 a.m. heading eastbound from Penn Station which will arrive at Rockville Centre at 11:24 a.m. For those heading westbound, the 10:57 a.m. leaving from Babylon will arrive at Rockville Centre at 11:32 a.m.
- Grand Marshal: This year's grand marshal is Australian native Michael O'Reilly, a Rockville Centre resident for the past 24 years.
- Charities: The parade will be raising money to support three different charities: The Ballinasloe Eagles Special Olympics Club from Galway Ireland, The Children's Tumor Foundation and the Tommy Brull Foundation.
- History: The first parade, started by founder David Crowe, kicked of in 1997 and since has become one of the best-attended and supported parades outside of New York City. In the past 20 years, the event has raised a total of $932,000 for 58 charities.
