Rockville Centre residents who attend Mass at St. Agnes are going to be losing a familiar face soon.

Father James Hansen is being transferred out of St. Agnes to the Parish of St. William the Abbot in Seaford. The transfer is slated to happen at the end of June.

Hansen is a relative newcomer to St. Agnes, but is well-liked by parishioners. Hansen, a Franklin Square native, was ordained in 2015. As a young priest, he jumped feet-first into Rockville Centre and was highly involved with the community. He would often participate in charity events, and was routinely seen getting his head shaved at the annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser.

Hansen is the second priest to be transferred out of St. Agnes this year. In April, Diocese of Rockville Centre Bishop John O. Barres appointed Father Seth Awo-Doku as the Pastor of St. Frances de Chantal in Wantagh.
