Rusty Water Alert: RVC To Flush Hydrants This Week

Residents and businesses should expect a reduction of water pressure during the overnight project, the village says.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Autumn is here and with it, Rockville Centre is holding its fall hydrant flushing.

The village's Water Department will clean the system overnights from Oct. 20 to Oct. 26.

While the work could cause a reduction in water pressure and/or discolored (rusty) water flowing into homes or businesses, the water remains safe to drink, the village said on its website.

However, the discoloration could stain laundry, so they advise not to schedule any projects where clean water is required.
