The Rockville Centre Cyclones got off to a rough start losing 8-3 to the defending Long Island champs and NY State finalist Lynbrook/East Rockaway Owls at Long Beach Arena last sunday night. The Owl’s came out hard charging scoring 3 goals in the first period while out shooting the Cyclones 11-6. The Second period the Cyclones fared much better stepping up their physical play and out shooting the owls 10-7 but still found themselves trailing 5-1 after two. The Cyclones didn’t have it easy having a goal missed in the second period and one waved off as well. The third period was much like the second with the Cyclones continuing their physical play. Shots were even at 9 aside but the scoring still leaned in the Owl’s favor for an 8-3 final. There were a lot of bright spots for the Cyclones in their first game in their inaugural season. A.J. Sandorfi led the team in scoring netting his first 2 of the year while Jake Epstein netted his first of the year with the assist going to 9th grader Jared Schwalbe for his first point of the year. Captian Trevor Nizich logged a ton of ice time while firing up the Cyclones with some hard checking. Leading the blue liners was Sean Leavenworth playing a great defensive game while hitting everything that moved. Jason Posner made some incredible saves between the pipes. Come out and see RVC Cyclones take on The Wantagh Seaford Baymen on Friday 11/14 @ 6:45 pm at New Bridge arena.
