RVC's Frances Warren Leads SHA in Record-Breaking Swim Win
Sacred Heart Academy's 400-meter freestyle swim relay team shatters Catholic school record.

Rockville Centre resident Frances Warren swam one leg in a record-breaking performance last weekend as Sacred Heart Academy's 400-meter freestyle swim relay team took first place at a tournament in Buffalo.
"A Catholic school has never won the relay event before and we really wanted to push ourselves to do that," said Warren, a senior at Sacred Heart who will attend Fordham University next year. "I was proud of everyone on the team."
The record win marks the best time in a Catholic high school's girls' 400-meter freestyle relay. The tournament — the New York State High School and Federation Girls Swimming and Diving Meet — included both public and parochial schools, and was held at Erie Community College in Buffalo. The Catholic school record Sacred Heart Academy beat was its own — it had set the previous record of 3:33:15 and beat that time by about a second, at 3:32. Clarence came in second place and Niskayuna finished in third.
Sacred Heart finished its regular season at 8-1. The sole defeat was to St. Anthony's on Oct. 28, the same relay team they ended up facing in their record-breaking performance.
The record-breaking swim, which was eight seconds faster than in their loss on Oct. 28, showed the team's resolve to bounce back after a disappointing loss, head Mary White said.
"They came back to prove they were better than what they were that night," White said. "This is a great comeback story."
