School Bus Aide Accused Of Abusing Special Needs Students Arrested, NCPD Says

The students the man is accused of abusing attend the Uniondale school district, police say.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — An Amityville man pleaded not guilty to 18 criminal charges Saturday after police said he was physically and verbally abusive to special needs students while he was working as a bus aide in Nassau County.

Nassau County police said 37-year-old Devone Medlock was working for First Student bus company when he pushed, slammed, restrained and sat on multiple special needs students who attended the Uniondale school district's Grand Avenue School. Police said Medlock was arrested in his home Saturday and charged with six counts of third-degree assault, six counts of third-degree menacing and six counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Court documents show that Medlock pleaded not guilty to all counts Saturday and is due back in court Apr. 2.
