HEMPSTEAD, NY. — Nassau County police said they had found a 14-year-old girl Thursday who had been reported missing on Christmas Eve. Police said 14-year-old Nazareth Avila had last been seen on Dec. 23 at her home in Hempstead. Avila's destination was unknown at the time that she was reported missing, police said. Police had previously said that anyone with information on Avila's whereabouts could contact the missing persons squad at 516-573-7347 or call 911. As of Wednesday morning, six weeks after being reported missing, Avila had been found, police said.
