Short Staffed, Library Shuts Doors To Public This Week

OCEANSIDE, NY — As COVID-19 doubles down on Long Island, the Oceanside Library announced it will be closed from Jan. 4 through Jan. 9.

The library is faced with a significant staff shortage, as written on its website. They will reevaluate the status after the weekend.

Long Beach libraries reopened after facing the same scenario last week.

The Oceanside Library will maintain all virtual programming and services, phone calls, online chat and resources.

All in-person programming will be moved or virtual, with the exception of the Mount Sinai South Nassau Vaxmobile. A future date is forthcoming, the library said.

"We believe this is the only option we have to continue to provide services while keeping the public and our staff safe," the library said.
