More than 90 volunteers of all ages filled 1,125 new backpacks with school supplies for disadvantaged children on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, during UJA-Federation of New York’s Supplies for Success Manhattan backpack assembly event. The Supplies for Success program, now in its 14th year, ensures that children in need return to school with the tools they need to succeed, and has provided more than 36,000 filled backpacks to local children through UJA-Federation beneficiary agencies, schools, shelters, and other local organizations. The 1,125 backpacks will be distributed by UJA-Federation beneficiary agencies Jewish Child Care Association, Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, Educational Alliance, and New York Legal Assistance Group, as well as Baby Buggy and Lawyers for Children.
