Teacher From LI Arrested For Molesting 11-Year-Old Student: NYPD

Police say the man, a teacher in Brooklyn, groped the girl on multiple occasions and sent her lewd messages.

A Flatbush teacher stands accused of sexually abusing an 11-year-old student, according to police and reports.

PS 244 teacher Daniel Santiago, 29, of Baldwin, was arrested Monday after he was caught inappropriately touching the girl inside the Brooklyn Science and Engineering Academy at Tilden Avenue and East 55th Street, according to police and a New York Daily News report.

Santiago was charged with three counts acting in a manor injurious to a child under 17, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

"This teacher was immediately reassigned away from the classroom when we were made aware of this disturbing allegation," said New York City Department of Education spokesperson Will Mantel. "We'll seek to remove him from payroll as quickly as possible while the investigation is pending."
